Journal Club of Science (JCoS)
Since 2022, the Journal Club of Science has been a permanent fixture at the DPU. Inspired by the Collegiate Journal of Science, it was created by students, for students.
The JCoS is an extracurricular association. Under the guidance of experienced professors and lecturers, various courses are offered in the “Skills Lab”. In these courses you can learn academic working methods and scientific writing. In addition, there are exciting hands-on and soft-skills courses that can support you later in life. From time to time, interesting lectures take place outside regular timetabled sessions. The range of these talks is very broad: while some have a direct connection to dentistry, others focus on nutrition or even tropical medicine.
Through these opportunities, members of the Journal Club are given a unique chance to engage in science and research. The emphasis is particularly on evidence-based medicine and interdisciplinary collaboration. The ability to work in a team is strengthened during various team-building activities. Joint work also fosters connections between the individual cohorts.
All students of Dentistry and Human Medicine are always very welcome to join the Journal Club of Science!
