Master of Human Medicine (Dr. med. univ.)
The Master’s Program in Human Medicine at the Danube Private University (DPU) comprises the contents of the final six semesters of medical studies at the DPU. The degree represents an important milestone for students on their path to medical licensure. In combination with the Bachelor’s Program, the Master’s Program in Human Medicine, which concludes with the academic degree “Dr. med. univ.”, forms a complete system of basic medical education at the DPU. The DPU’s objective is to train students of the Master’s Program in Human Medicine to become competent practitioners across the entire field of medicine (Dr. med. univ.).
Admission Requirements
- Completion of the Bachelor’s Program in Human Medicine (BSc) at the DPU or completion of an equivalent program.
- The equivalence of a program must be reviewed and confirmed by the Rectorate of the DPU.
- As part of the equivalence review, the Rectorate may require the completion of additional examinations prior to the start of studies if equivalence is only partially met.
- Proof of proficiency in the German language.
- Applicants who have already been admitted to the same program at another Austrian university must submit the leaving certificate (Abgangsbescheinigung) from that university pursuant to § 69 UG together with the application for admission.
Curriculum Master of Human Medicine
The Master’s Program in Human Medicine at the DPU comprises 180 ECTS, divided into 21 modules (including the Master’s thesis), the comprehensive examination MED2, and the Clinical Practical Year (KPJ) with a total of 60 ECTS and 1,500 working hours. Mandatory clerkships (Pflichtfamulaturen) must be completed extracurricularly.
