Aesthetic-reconstructive dentistry presents complex demands for the dentist when it comes to fulfilling the patient’s wishes in the best possible way. The focus is thereby on interdisciplinary treatment concepts from various different fields of dentistry. The postgraduate Master of Science programme in Aesthetic Reconstructive Dentistry (MSc) therefore focuses on the interdisciplinary planning and execution of treatments. The highly aesthetic treatment of patients, in particular, offers a wide range of new materials and treatments, which should be classified constructively. In the case of digitalization in dentistry, especially, one must differentiate between the technical possibilities and what can be integrated in the everyday practice.
In addition to the dental possibilities, the higher expectations of the patients increasingly also have to be taken into consideration. These are often no longer characterized by life expectancy or phase of life, but rather the attainable quality of life. Fixed treatments are thereby becoming increasingly important. This explicitly also includes the planning and preparation of temporary solutions.

From an aesthetic perspective, minimally-invasive techniques in dentistry and long-term tooth preservation often place very high demands on patient treatment. This requires the extensive presentation and discussion of specific skills and methods.

The objective of the Master’s programme is therefore to promote interdisciplinary thinking, planning and action, in order to attain a high level of patient satisfaction and quality of life taking into consideration individual expectations. Above all, however, it offers the dentists the opportunity to distinguish themselves publically as a Master of Science in Aesthetic-Reconstructive Dentistry (MSc).
