Postgraduate University Programmes
Master of Science (Continuing Education), MSc (CE)
Currently, 1,100 dentists from 66 nations are enrolled in one of the postgraduate university programmes Master of Science (Continuing Education), abbreviated MSc (CE).
To be among the best in the profession, to excel through knowledge, to avoid treatment errors through solid expertise, to achieve better healing outcomes, and thereby to increase practice success – this is a professional strategy that benefits both dentists and their patients.
We aim to help dentists be prepared for continuous innovative change through lifelong, state-of-the-art university-level continuing education and to acquire the key resources necessary for a dental excellence practice.
Part-Time Study – Compliant with EU Directives
A modern Master’s programme offers dentists with at least two years of professional experience far more than just specialist training. In line with EU directives on the recognition of academic Master’s degrees, it is structured over six semesters with a workload of 120 ECTS and 45 to 50 attendance days, making it possible to complete alongside a successful practice through modular organisation. Between the regularly scheduled modules, newly acquired knowledge can be applied directly in practice.
Graduates of the dental university continuing education programmes, upon meeting the European ECTS requirements (regular participation in the modules listed in the curriculum, Master’s thesis of approx. 40 A4 pages, documentation of ten to twelve patient cases, single-choice tests, oral/written examinations), are awarded the academic degree Master of Science (Continuing Education), MSc (CE), in their chosen field.
Quality Assurance
The highest standards in science, teaching, and practice are ensured by renowned professors, whose excellent teaching skills and success-oriented study programme have been confirmed through the mandatory evaluations conducted by the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Austria as well as by the Master’s students themselves.
Exchange with Colleagues
These university continuing education programmes are suitable for all age groups. While experienced dentists often wish to give new momentum to their practice and life through study, younger colleagues are keen to set a high standard for their professional future from the very beginning.
Students join a motivated circle of peers who share the same commitment to professional development. The exchange of expertise, emerging friendships, and potential practice collaborations are valuable assets for professional competence. The excellence of this university-level continuing education is demonstrated by the fact that one-third of students have already completed or are undertaking their second, third, or even fourth continuing education programme at the DPU. Several thousand dentists from around the world have completed these programmes, thereby obtaining a shield-bearing academic degree that certifies the high quality of their dental work for patients in their respective field.
